Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna told reporters in Dehradun that the death toll in the flood-ravaged state is likely to be around 1,000. Racing against time in the face of predicted adverse weather, over 10,000 people were on Saturday evacuated from various upper reaches of flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, including the worst-affected Kedarnath, as the death toll may touch 1,000. The IAF deployed 13 more aircraft for relief and rescue work, taking to 43 the total number of planes in operation  Reports suggested Kedarnath shrine, where 50 people died in the landslide that accompanied torrential rains and flash floods, is intact notwithstanding the heavy damage all around. "The Kedarnath temple is submerged in mud and slush. We just hope that it does not collapse," said Uttarakhand disaster relief minister Yashpal Arya.
